13 Best Bathroom Paint Colors

The best bathroom paint colors all pulled together for you! Painting the walls in your bathroom remodel is like putting the icing on a cake: you want it to be just the right color. If you aren’t used to selecting paint colors, it can be overwhelming – have you seen how many colors are available?! As a designer and a builder, I get to use and know a lot of different paint colors on the wall. Over time I’ve built up a list of go-to colors in each color category. In the post, I will break down the best paint colors for you. I hope it saves you a lot of time!

Why Is Picking Out Bathroom Paint Colors So Important?

You spend so much time selecting the right shower tile, flooring, vanity cabinet, and vanity top in a bathroom remodel. When you get to the end, you want the paint you select to blend and work with – not clash with – all these beautiful elements. I have in my hands right now a Sherwin-Williams paint deck. It has 316 pages with seven colors on almost every page. That’s over 2,200 colors! When I started picking out paint colors for projects, I would pour over Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Porter Paints decks! And over time, I began to find colors that just worked well in a lot of different situations:

  • Small rooms
  • Large rooms
  • Rooms with a lot of natural light
  • Rooms with very little natural light

I’ve used these colors repeatedly because they are so versatile, and so many people find them pleasing.

13 Bathroom Paint Colors

Whites
Grays

This has just a touch of brown to keep it warm. Gray is such a popular color – it makes me nervous when anyone says they will paint gray because it can often come out too blue and cold. Still, revere pewter always turns out warm and just right.

This goes well with lots of gray and white marbles – one of the best true grays that won’t turn blue on you. So if you dislike the drop of brown in revere pewter, Pediment is the color for you.

Blues
  • Palladian Blue – Benjamin Moore HC-144 is a light blue without reading as a “baby blue.”
  • Philipsburg Blue – Benjamin Moore HC-159 is a moody dark blue that manages to be dark but not too dark. I had the walls in our primary suite painted this color, and I love it so much. I had the trim painted to match!
Greens
  • Sea Salt – Sherwin Williams 6204 is like a breath of fresh air in a room. I will never tire of it!
  • Svelte Sage – Sherwin Williams 6164 is an excellent mid-green balanced with a good amount of gray.
Yellow
  • Yellow can be a tricky color to work with. I see people try to use it to “brighten” a dark room. The most versatile yellow I’ve worked with is Lily – Sherwin Williams 6693. The trick to this color is to have it mixed to 1/2 or 3/4 of the color shown on the card. If you have a room without much natural light, you might want to use Lily in full strength as you see it on the card. But if you have a lot of natural light, it does much better if I have it mixed at 1/2 or 3/4 strength. The paint store will understand what you mean when you tell them this.
Neutral

Looking for a good neutral backdrop? Try these favorites:

All three of these are by Benjamin Moore, and I promise you cannot go wrong with them. They are lovely, and I’ve NEVER seen them go wrong in a room, and they have just enough color to not read as white, but not so much color that they clash with anything. They are just soft and charming.
